Philosophy on Presence

Substances & Alcohol

Wayfinder Archery creates a drug & alcohol-free, and tobacco aware environment for the entirety of our events. The practice of presence and embodiment are highly valued and essential for the work we offer. In a time where disassociation is rampant within ourselves and our world, we encourage and invite everyone into the field of sobriety. Remaining available to feel whatever is arising. It is VERY important to us to keep our weapons range and general space safe, protected, and crystal clear energetically.

Youth Attendance

Kids 8+ years old who strongly desire to shoot bows, and have the patience & presence to be with us in a good way are highly encouraged and welcome to attend.

We’ve found that for longer periods of time, 8+ year old kids are more able to enjoy the focus, discipline, and responsibility required on the range. In rarer cases, there've been younger ones who’ve excelled at all-day participation. If you have a young child you feel falls into this category, and are committed to being present with them when needed, reach out. They’re most likely absolutely welcome.

Farm to Table Meal

On Saturday & Sunday a three-course meal will be offered, leaving you well fed and deeply nourished. Honey Circle Farm and Ruby Turple handcraft a beyond organic, locally sourced and grown, farm to table, vegetarian or meat option delicious meal. Please let us know if you are vegetarian or have any dietary restrictions.

Camping

Pups must stay home

There are a limited number of spots to pitch a tent or car camp. If you plan to bring a large camper van, RV, bus etc., please communicate this in advance so we can coordinate accordingly. You will need to provide your own breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily. Delicious and plentiful well-water is available for drinking and bathing in.

Please arrive 30 minutes before class time. This allows time to park, gather your belongings, sign waivers, oriented and ground in for class. Thank you.

Please bear in mind and heart this is the year-round home to lots of our animal cousins including Bear, Mountain Lion, Coyote, Deer, Rabbit, Rat, Mouse, Spider, Rattlesnake, Vulture, Hawk, Owl, etc. We are visiting their home, as well as our host's home.

Walk lightly upon the Earth and property, be conscientious of your environment, properly store your food and trash, leave no trace, and intend to leave the environment more nourished than before you came.

Wayfinder Archery

All new Wayfinder Archery archers begin with a mandatory class. The class initiates group symbiosis, provides fundamental education, lays the groundwork for weapon wielding & responsibility, and stimulates self reflection and awareness. It’s important to attend one full mandatory class in order to use Wayfinder Archery’s equipment and shoot on our Range. We provide all of the equipment.

Note: If you are attending multiple days, only one mandatory class is required. Allowing you access to practice on the range while any other classes are held.

Once we complete class (and take a short break) we select the best bow and arrow fit for each person. We then go over range etiquette & safety, ground into proper form, and begin shooting together. As practice commences, Wayfinder’s team offers guidance and insight to ingrain proper form into one’s mind and body. As we engage in lots of exciting shooting practice and experience, confidence is effortlessly gained.

Mikhel offers a clear delivery of instinctive archery principles combined with absorbable teaching methods. Alongside the principles and methods Mikhel guides her students with, she also brings a unique and uncommon teaching element to the table, an instinctive understanding of the human psyche and heart.

She has an uncanny ability to tap into people's “internal form,” offering a type of internal archery guidance, which can strongly affect one’s archery form. This guidance can aid in transforming the way you physically shoot, right then and there. It can also aid in deeper levels of overall transformation. Our body and mind are ruled by our beliefs and relationship to self, therefore an awareness and a perspective shift can greatly affect how we carry ourselves, hold a bow, connect with our body, etc. That shift allows us more ability to sink into the present moment, which changes the game in regards to our Traditional Archery and life experience.
